Immigration Reform is for sissies!

Is it possible for uninvited guests in your home to stay and you not enforce your standards and rules which you have set? Standards you have like not cursing around your children. A rule in your home could be removing your shoes as you come in the door.. Wiping the rim of the toilet after use, (you’ve read it hanging off the restroom wall, “If you sprinkle when you tinkle, be a sweetie and wipe the seaty”.  A rule not usually enforced but it should be. No one wants to clean someone elses piss. And what if these uninvited guests arrive without the beer to hang out? What if their dopey kids break your kids' crayolas and tag your faux walls? Can you imaging not doing anything about it. Can you see yourself tolerating their mad disrespect. If you do your a sissy!

Does any of this sound familiar? It should! It's happening to the United Sates. Illegal (uninvited) Immigrants (guests) barge in and settle down without any desire to at the very least learn our language. Instead we must learn theirs. They come here ignoring most of our laws. They drive without proper insurance, are seen by the doctor before you who has insurance when visiting the emergency room, AND their kids are taught in our schools taking away from our children material resources, not to mention the valuable teaching time of our fine educators all of which we pay for with our tax dollars. Our jail cots are stacked up high with illegal immigrants where once again the burden of their vacation lies on backs of hard working Americans. And we aren’t only losing jobs, but our wages are stagnant.

But what if that uninvited guest was your brother? Just as illegal immigrants are our brothers. And what if you felt that if you allowed him to stay in your home he would have an opportunity to get on his feet. Would you require him to follow the rules? Keep your standards? Of course you would.

What would make it easier for you to say "welcome"? No doubt a phone call asking for your permission.  During that call you make him aware of your rules. And if he wants help, he will oblige. If breaks the rules, you kick them to the curb. Or in this case, across the border.

So should we allow amnesty? Hell no! Is it to late for a phone call? It is if he's inside! Kick out your brother until he calls you to to apologize for being so rude and obnoxious. In other words we should stick to our guns and not be a country of sissies who get pushed around in our own home. We don’t need immigration reform dammit! We need to enforce the laws we have now.

If you feel offended by this because you know an ‘uninvited guest’, I make no apologies. To hell with that! They should stop breaking our rules and laws, and acquire legal status.

As a second generation Mexican American, my family arrived here legally. Knowing I may get backlash from my fellow Mexicanos, let me just say that this is not about race. I am not siding with ‘gringos’. It is about obeying the laws of a country that has many opportunities for anyone willing to follow those laws.  Mexican-Americans are not cowards, why should some of us hide and scurry and be like cockaroaches and scavengers when we could contribute without worrying about our legal status? I’m sure this goes for immigrants of all nations.
